Knee Pain Treatment FAQs

What knee pain treatments do you offer?

>

We offer a full spectrum of knee pain treatments, including physical therapy, laser therapy, injection-based treatments, minimally invasive procedures, and surgical options. Your care plan is personalized based on your diagnosis, activity level, and goals.

What’s the difference between steroid injections and gel injections?

>

Steroid injections help reduce inflammation and pain, while gel injections (viscosupplementation) are designed to improve joint lubrication and cushioning. The right option depends on the cause and severity of your knee pain.

What are PRP and BMAC injections, and iovera° treatment?

>

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) and BMAC (Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate) are orthobiologic treatments that use your body's own biological material to help support the healing process and may reduce pain and improve function for certain knee conditions.

iovera° is a non-surgical treatment that uses targeted cold therapy to temporarily interrupt pain signals from specific nerves around the knee. It can provide pain relief for some patients with knee arthritis or those preparing for or recovering from knee replacement surgery, helping them stay more comfortable during rehabilitation.

Not every treatment is appropriate for every patient. Our orthopedic specialists will evaluate your condition, explain all available options, and recommend the treatment plan that best fits your needs and goals.

Will physical therapy really help my knee pain?

>

For many patients, physical therapy is a critical part of treatment. It can help strengthen the muscles around the knee, improve stability, and reduce pain—either as a standalone treatment or alongside other options.

What is laser therapy used for?

>

Laser therapy is a non-invasive treatment that may help reduce inflammation and support tissue healing. It is often used in combination with physical therapy or other conservative treatments.

When is arthroscopic knee surgery recommended?

>

Arthroscopic surgery may be recommended for certain mechanical knee problems, such as meniscus tears or cartilage issues, when non-surgical treatments haven’t provided sufficient relief.

What is the MISHA™ Knee System?

>

The MISHA™ Knee System is a shock-absorbing implant designed to reduce load on the knee joint. It may be an option for certain patients with knee pain who are not ready for total knee replacement.

When should I consider total knee replacement?

>

Total knee replacement is typically considered when knee pain significantly limits daily activities and other treatments are no longer effective. Your specialist will help determine if and when this option is appropriate.

Do you accept insurance for knee pain treatments?

>

We accept most major insurance plans. Coverage varies by treatment, and some options—such as Laser Therapy and PRP and BMAC injections—are not covered. Our team can help review your benefits before treatment.

How do I know which treatment is right for me?

>

The best way to determine the right treatment is through a comprehensive knee evaluation with one of our specialists. We’ll review your condition, discuss your options, and help you make an informed decision.
